A New Vision: Healthcare as a Public Good

By Luigi Mangione

The Marxist vision for healthcare is simple: it must be a universal right, not a privilege dictated by market forces. My act against the health insurance executive was a call to action, urging society to reject the commodification of care and embrace a system rooted in equity and compassion.

Marxist commentators across social media amplified this vision, framing it as the only ethical alternative to the capitalist model. They argued that private health insurance, by its very nature, is incompatible with the principles of universal access and human dignity. My action was not an end but a beginning—a demand for a future where healthcare is publicly funded, universally accessible, and free from corporate influence.

This vision resonates with the working class, who bear the brunt of the current system’s failures. It offers hope for a society where no one is denied care due to cost, where doctors and nurses work to heal rather than meet quotas, and where human lives are valued above profits. My act was a spark, but the revolution will require collective action to bring this vision to life.
